The Presentations
(please contact the respective authors for questions or requests to use any content)
We will focus on what RHESSI and other instruments can tell us about accelerated ions and relativistic electrons, primarily using gamma-ray observations. We will also discuss other types of observations (e.g., neutrons or ENAs) that may provide new avenues of investigation. Participants’ interests will shape the group; likely topics include:
- the role of energetic ions in the flare process
- relative elemental abundances in the various populations
- diagnostics of deep-atmosphere conditions
- the relationship between accelerated ions and electrons
- the contribution of pion-decay products to high-energy emission
- the connection between energetic particles in flares and CMEs
